For sisters and families
How to involve your wali on Halal Match
A sister can keep her wali involved from the first message. He gets a daily email copy of her chats, and the brothers she talks to can see that he does.
It takes about a minute to set up, and he does not need an account.
How it works
Four steps, from invite to stopping. Pick a step to see it.
What the other side sees
Once your wali confirms, your profile shows a Wali involved badge. Anyone chatting with you sees a short notice in the chat that your wali gets a daily copy. Everyone knows where they stand before they write.
When family runs the profile
Any member can say who manages their profile in Edit profile → Profile managed by. Cards then show a badge such as “Managed by father”.
- Father
- Mother
- Brother
- Sister
- Other family
Common questions
- Does my wali need a Halal Match account?
- No. He only needs an email address. He confirms from the invite email and reads the daily copies in his inbox.
- Will the brothers I talk to know my wali is involved?
- Yes. After your wali confirms, your profile shows a "Wali involved" badge, and anyone chatting with you sees a notice that your wali gets a daily copy.
- Does my wali see messages from before he confirmed?
- No. Copies start from when he confirms. Older messages are never sent.
- Can I have more than one wali?
- One at a time. To change him, remove him first, then add the new email.
- Can my family run my profile?
- Any member can set "Profile managed by" in Edit profile: Myself, Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, or Other family. Cards then show a badge such as "Managed by father".
